Day 11-2009

We stopped by the park today on our way to do some hiking on some local trails. M5 was able to skate today, but her homemade board isn't quite done. She borrowed one of F8's today. We were the ONLY skaters there today, so I'm sorry I couldn't get any big air shots. We'll be going more often now that the weather is nice.

Day 10-2009

Actual day-22 JUNE 2009

It has been quite awhile since we have been to the skate park...again. We just seem to be busier this summer, and the weather has been wet and rainy quite a bit. Finally-we made it over today.

We had the park to ourselves, plus two skaters. Milan was one (he is a popular skater on this blog) and another blonde skater that I don't really know. I have seen him a couple of times, and he's good. Milan shared with me that our other local skatepark should be opening up in November, and hopefully they will break ground soon. We are REALLY excited to see what it will end up like, and I am sure we'll spend just as much time over there.

So...here are the photos. Just a reminder-F8, E7, and M5 are my own children. My husband prefers that I don't show their faces since they are so young still.

I wish this one hadn't turned out blurry. It was PERFECT form (Milan).

Check out the air F8 was making in the background there (in black). He wants me to tell everyone that he landed that. He didn't-but I'll tell you he did.

E8's deck

We have had a lot of rain lately, so we just haven't had a chance to get to the skate park.

However, Husband finished E8's deck. We actually have it fully assembled now, but I don't have any photos yet. I'll post some soon. On this design I sketched out a drum set for E8 (it is what he asked for) and he painted it in. He chose the name "Blue Eagles" as his band name. I personally love the natural wood, so I was happy that he decided not to paint the rest of it. He got white (semi-transparent) grip tape.

M5 has her deck mostly done, we just need to paint the underside. She has her wheels and trucks ready to put on, so I need to get busy painting it for her. I'll post those as soon as I can.

F8 left his board out in the rain, so his homemade deck is completely ruined now. He's going to have to wait until his Dad decides he has time to make a new deck. We weren't too happy about that.

Even though I can't ride (bad back-one fall would render me inoperable), I asked Husband to make me a deck when he gets around to it, so I can design it. We'll keep it in the car as an extra when friends come along and want to skate. But it will still be MINE! :-D

Day 9-2009

"Speedy Mo" trying out a rail slide...on his bottom.

There was a small group of skaters when we arrived, six of us came in our group (I came today with my 3 kids and another friend and 3 of her 4 kids), and from there more and more skaters started to arrive. I concentrated more on getting photos of the kids in our group, so I only have a couple of shots of another skater. He was pretty tall-and was riding the walls today. This group of skaters were very nice to our kids, let them try out one of their long boards, and helped one of our girls out of the pool when she was stuck. It was a nice thing to see- young people helping out the even younger ones.

Day 8-2009

The skater that stayed.

The actual day we hit the park was 9 MAY 2009.

There were only two skaters there, and one left soon after we arrived. Then, while the boys rollerbladed, one of the boys stayed and skated (of the original skaters). It was a beautiful day, so I was really surprised that not more skaters were there. Bummer.

Zero Gravity Skate Park-Madera, CA

DAY 7-2009

I'm not sure if this counts as a visit to a skate park since it wasn't open, but since this is my blog- I'm going to count it. Lol.

We were traveling recently and came across this skate park in Madera, CA. I was so bummed we had to hit the road again before it opened for the day, but I did walk around the gated premises and get a good look. Here are the photos.

If you have skated at this skate park, what did you think? Are you a regular there? Is there a fee to skate? Leave me a comment. Thanks.

Day 6-2009

Oh my goodness...it was SO COLD again today, in the shade. It's such a nice day everywhere else, that it seems like a good day to hit the skate park, but then when we get there, I freeze to death!

This one skater that I got shots of today was really good. He was getting some great air and landing his tricks. He said he didn't mind if I got some shots of him, so I did.

There were three skaters that came and sat in the bleachers forever, watching, and eating sunflower seeds (I think) and then they started skating once I left, so maybe they didn't like me for some reason, or were afraid I might take photos of them. I sure hope not. I try to always ask for permission.

Before we headed out, we met a nice family from out of town and their daughter skated. I was THRILLED to see a female skater, since it is very rare (at least where we are). She was doing a great job. I loved her pink helmet and pink sneakers. I also loved that fact that she wore ALL of her pads and her helmet. The skaters that don't just do not understand how dangerous it is NOT to.
